dallas, in summary

I took nearly zero photos, ate my weight in Tex Mex (mmm, queso...), explored acres of antiques, and had a lovely and relaxing weekend. I also read an entire book on the way home (The Long Earth). It was perfect, really, though I am glad to be back in the 70 degree weather and away from the 100.

The DMA is free! That's awesome!

We popped over to Klyde Warren park to grab a bite from one of the half dozen food trucks and settled on rice bowls and tacos from the Vietnamese truck before heading into the air conditioned museum for the afternoon.

With a free weekend ahead of me and a ton of frequent flier miles sitting in my account (mostly from my touring days), I called up my brother and sister-in-law and invited myself to their new house in Dallas for a long weekend.

I was picked up from the airport last night, learned about horrible Dallas traffic, got a tour of their adorable house, and after some debate went over to goodfriend for a burger. We shared a giant appetizer of waffle fries covered with cheese and bacon and jalapeños and chives, and I got a burger with a fried egg on top (my favorite).

Sometimes you just need to be somewhere new for a few days, you know?
